Position Summary

The Student Support Coordinator is a full‑time role that will work closely with the school, the school district, and grant staff to create a welcoming and safe school climate for students, staff, and families, with a focus on improving attendance outcomes. The Coordinator will collect and report data and design services and strategies related to the West Sabine Independent School District improvement plan.

This position reports to the Director of Collaborative Improvement and leads and operates with the goal that All Rural Students Succeed
.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Implement strategies to reduce chronic absenteeism.
  • Coordinate support for students with academic and attendance needs.
  • Track and use data to drive improvement efforts.
  • Facilitate collaboration among school staff, families, and partners.
  • Deliver targeted, student‑specific interventions.
  • Build and maintain community partnerships.
  • Serve as liaison between school and community initiatives.
  • Support a coordinated, community‑based approach to student success.
  • Monitor progress toward goals and report outcomes.
  • Participate in regional and cross‑sector improvement efforts.
  • Continually assess the needs of students, families, and the school.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with students, families, and teachers, always operating in an ethical manner.

Position Location & Schedule

The position will be based at the West Sabine Elementary School in Pineland, TX, with local, state, and sometimes national travel required.

Normal business hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with in‑office expectations and the possibility of remote work during periods when the school may be closed. Because of the nature of responsibility to schools, partners, funders, and the service region, individual offices or departments may have operating hours that extend beyond this period and may include evening and/or weekend hours.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent combination of experience, training, and education.
  • Minimum of two years’ relevant experience.
Special Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate professionally and effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Ability to coordinate a multi‑faceted program.
License, Certification, or Registration Necessary
  • Access to reliable transportation.
  • Ability to successfully complete pre‑employment background check.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to work inside a school.
  • Ability to accurately communicate and exchange information with partners, stakeholders, and/or meeting participants.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to travel independently by car and plane regionally and nationally.
  • Ability to operate standard office equipment.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
