CCHS Instructional Coach
Crystal City ISD – Crystal City High School, Crystal City, Texas
Position Type: Full-Time
Primary PurposeEvaluate and provide leadership for the instructional programs. Provide leadership to ensure high standards of instructional service. Assist in the effective and efficient operations of the curriculum and instruction department.
Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements or required training for subject and level assigned
- Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
- General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
- Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- At least three years of teaching experience
- Assist in implementing lesson plans that fulfill the requirements of district’s curriculum program and show written evidence of preparation as required.
- Assist in the preparation of lesson plans to reflect accommodations for differences in student learning styles.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate TEKS-based instructional programs with teachers, including learning objectives, instructional strategies, and assessment techniques.
- Meet with grade level/subject area teachers at the campus level to clarify the curriculum sequence and develop lesson goals, objectives, and teaching strategies for the upcoming weeks.
- Provide demonstration lessons and meet with teachers to discuss practices and compare planned instruction with actual performed instruction.
- Meet with district and grade level teachers at the campus level to review assessment data in specific subject areas and plan interventions to improve instruction.
- Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
- Use technology to strengthen the teaching/learning process.
- Utilize the district data management system (DMAC) to monitor instructional impact on achievement and to develop instructional improvement plans to improve overall teaching and learning.
- Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
- Assist in ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Assume responsibility for extracurricular activities as assigned.
- Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school district.
- Assist teacher in creating classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for the physical, social, and emotional development of students.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
- Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Assist teachers in selection of books, equipment, and other instructional materials as appropriate.
- Meet with teacher on a one‑to‑one basis to design coherent instruction and assist in the effective delivery of lesson plans.
- Attend required trainings and meetings.
- Carry out assigned campus duties as prescribed by policy.
- Be a role model for each student.
- Provide effective staff development activities by using the mission of the district, program evaluation outcomes, and input from teachers and others.
- Work cooperatively with others to ensure compliance with federal and state personnel laws and regulations as well as with Board Policy.
- Coaching staff, providing instructional strategies to teachers, and encouraging the effective use of data to improve overall performance.
- With the approval of the immediate supervisor, secure consultants, specialists, and other community resources for instructional staff to assist in attaining objectives.
- Establish and maintain open communication by conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
- Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
- Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
- Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
- Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.

Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling, and pushing. Move small stacks of textbooks, media equipment, desks, and other classroom equipment.
