Job Title: Elementary Special Education ARD Facilitator/Case Manager Exemption Status: Exempt
Reports to: Campus Principal/Director of Special Education
Dept./School: Special Education/BES
Primary Purpose
Serve as the campus special education case manager by coordinating ARD meetings, preparing and maintaining all required special education documentation, including PLAAFPs, goals, accommodations, and IEPs, and ensuring compliance with state and federal special education requirements.
Qualifications
Education/Certification
• Bachelor's degree required
• Valid Texas teaching certificate required
• Valid Texas Special Education certification required
Special Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
• Knowledge of IDEA, special education regulations, and ARD procedures
• Knowledge of evaluation, eligibility, and IEP development processes
• Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to maintain confidential records and manage multiple timelines
• Ability to interpret student performance and progress data
• Proficiency with special education management systems
Experience
• Minimum three years of successful special education teaching experience
• Experience participating in and facilitating ARD meetings
Major Responsibilities and Duties
Program Management
1. Manage assigned special education caseloads and monitor compliance requirements for each student.
2. Schedule, coordinate, and facilitate ARD committee meetings, annual reviews, reevaluations, and other required meetings.
3. Ensure all federal, state, and district timelines related to evaluations, eligibility, ARDs, and IEP implementation are met.
4. Develop, review, and maintain accurate IEP documentation and student records.
5. Monitor implementation of IEPs, accommodations, modifications, and related services.
6. Track and review student progress toward IEP goals and communicate concerns to appropriate staff.
7. Coordinate with diagnosticians, related service providers, teachers, and administrators regarding evaluations, eligibility, and student services.
8. Assist in the development of behavior intervention plans, accommodations, and instructional supports when needed.
Instructional and Staff Support
9. Serve as a resource for teachers regarding accommodations, modifications, progress monitoring, and implementation of IEP requirements.
10. Provide training and support to campus staff regarding ARD procedures and special education compliance requirements.
11. Collaborate with general and special education staff to address student needs and improve student outcomes.
Communication and Parent Relations
12. Serve as the primary contact for parents regarding ARD meetings, special education services, and IEP implementation.
13. Maintain positive working relationships with students, parents, staff, and service providers.
14. Facilitate communication among all members of the student's educational team.
Policy, Reports, and Compliance
15. Maintain accurate, confidential records and documentation required by district, state, and federal regulations.
16. Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, board policies, and district procedures related to special education.
17. Assist the Director of Special Education and campus administration with compliance monitoring and corrective actions as needed.
Other
18. Follow district safety procedures and perform other duties as assigned.
