Location:
1280 Escondido Dr, Magnolia, TX 77354. The Lone Star College-Magnolia Center is a full‑service satellite center offering associate degrees and workforce certifications in HVAC and Emergency Medical Services (EMS).
Purpose and Scope: It is the responsibility of the teaching faculty to provide learning activities and support that will lead to the achievement of course objectives and contribute to the educational environment of the college and the community. Primary responsibilities include planning, developing, and teaching courses within the curriculum in a manner that facilitates student learning.
Adjunct faculty are hired part‑time on a semester‑by‑semester basis, contingent upon the needs of the System. Adjuncts teach a maximum of five classes per academic year and can teach day, evening, or weekend classes across various times and locations.
Essential Job Functions- Teach drama courses at a variety of times and locations
- Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of material
- Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner
- Use a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
- Meet with and advise students before or after class, by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
- Evaluate students to measure progress in achieving course objectives and inform them of progress in a timely manner
- Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
- Attend required meetings, trainings, and orientations
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned
- Mastery of course content
- Demonstrated leadership skills emphasizing collaboration, teamwork, and facilitation
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills
- Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with a wide variety of people
- Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies including collaborative learning, learning communities, and distance learning
- Commitment to academic excellence and exceptional service, providing a dynamic climate for lifelong learning
- Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning/civic engagement, learning communities, and the effective use of technology
- Ability to use effective strategies to engage students in their learning
The work is sedentary, typically involving sitting at a desk. Occasional walking, standing, bending, carrying light items such as papers or books, or driving an automobile may be required. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
Work Schedule And Conditions- Use PC workstations, calculators, phones, and standard office equipment in a Microsoft Windows environment
- Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out job functions
- Work in climate‑controlled classroom or laboratory environments with minimal exposure to safety hazards
- Schedule varies with class times; instructors must meet with classes at all scheduled times and be available to students outside of class instruction
- MA or MFA degree in Drama or Theatre, or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Drama
$55.44 per contact hour.
