Job Description Primary
Purpose:
To assist the school principal in the overall administration of campus programs; provide instructional leadership with guidance and direction; coordinate student services that will ensure appropriate implementation of district policies and instructional guidelines to enhance student learning; promote a positive working relationship among staff by establishing a climate conducive to open communication and productive work.

Texas Principal’s Certificate or Texas Mid-Management Certificate, required;
Certified T‑TESS Appraiser, preferred - Experience: Three (3) years of experience as a classroom teacher, required

Major Responsibilities and Duties / Essential Functions
Assist the principal with the development, supervision, evaluation, and improvement of the instructional program.Stay informed about current legislation, educational developments, literature, and research in curriculum and instruction; participate in state and national professional organizations; attend conferences and staff development sessions; disseminate information and materials to campus staff.Conduct classroom observations and act as an appraiser of teachers; evaluate job performance of other staff members as assigned.Evaluate assigned staff members to document performance and recommend employment decisions.Assist teachers in maintaining student discipline and monitoring student behavior.Provide counseling to students regarding behavioral issues while on campus.Enforce the provisions of the District Discipline Management Plan to ensure consistency and compliance.Attend after‑school and off‑campus student activities to assist with discipline and student management.Supervise plant operations, attendance accounting, and the school safety and security programs.Direct inventory, distribution, and collection of textbooks and teaching resources.Perform record‑keeping and report‑writing functions as directed by the principal.Keep the principal informed regarding conditions and needs of the school.Collaborate with staff and students to promote positive school and community relations.Assist in daily organization of the school, including class scheduling, teacher assignments, duties, substitute assignments, and extracurricular activities.Comply with federal, state, local, and district policies and guidelines to provide fair and equitable service to all students.Prepare, evaluate, and revise the annual campus improvement plan and assist in preparing the faculty and student handbook.Support a common vision for school improvement and use the district site‑based shared decision‑making process to improve student learning and operational effectiveness.Coordinate and supervise PEIMS data.Adhere to ethical, legal, and district standards.Follow McAllen ISD customer service standards.Perform other duties assigned by the immediate supervisor (primary evaluator).Working Conditions
