Substitute Teacher - Weekly Pay

Blue Ridge, TX – Blue Ridge ISD, Collin County

Pay: $80.00 – $95.00 per day

The Substitute Teacher assists in classroom instruction during a regular teacher’s absence, following lesson plans, maintaining classroom routines, and ensuring student learning continues smoothly.

• Provide meaningful instruction to students in assigned classrooms while the regular teacher is absent.
• Review and implement the regular teacher's routines, procedures, lesson plans, and curriculum objectives.
• Establish and maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment.
• Report any student injuries, illness, and serious discipline problems to school administration.
• Initiate, facilitate, and moderate classroom discussions.
• Evaluate and grade students’ class work, assignments, and papers.
• Supervise students’ fieldwork, internships, and research work.
• Maintain student attendance records, grades, and other required records.
• Collaborate with colleagues to address teaching and research issues.
• Compile, administer, and grade examinations or delegate this work to others.
• Serve on academic or administrative committees that address institutional policies, departmental matters, and academic issues.
• Issue written and oral instructions; assign duties and examine work for conformance to policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as directed by school administration.
• Perform duties as assigned or as they arise.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to effectively present information in both one‑on‑one and small group situations to students.

Math Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent; ability to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Abilities

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions; ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Minimum High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED).

There are no specific requirements for this position.

Excellent skills in Microsoft Windows.

Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds; regularly required to talk and hear; frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use hands/fingers, and reach with hands and arms.

Close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less); distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more); ability to adjust focus.

The position works in an environment with moderate noise level and occasional exposure to outdoor weather conditions.
