- Master's degree preferred
- Valid Texas teaching certification, Special Education EC-12
- Three years’ classroom experience in Special Education
The Academic Coach is similar to an individual who serves in the capacity of an instructional coach. This individual collaboratively engages with various stakeholder groups including district- and campus-level leaders, teachers, families, and community members to support teacher success to impact student learning. The Academic Coach plays a pivotal role in developing a culture of continuous improvement on the campus.
Key Responsibilities- Plan and deliver weekly differentiated, job-embedded professional development through teacher professional learning communities.
- Guide and support teachers in the analysis of data to guide instructional decisions.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to identify individual student needs and determine how to differentiate instruction that meets those needs.
- Assist with implementing evidence-based instructional programs with fidelity.
- Collaborate with district and campus administration to develop and implement action steps outlined in district- or campus-based improvement plans.
- Model lessons and/or activities as needed to build teacher capacity.
- Participate in and/or facilitate effective professional learning activities.
- Be an advocate or change agent in establishing a collaborative culture.
- Help facilitate 21st century learning and technology integration.
- Expand knowledge base for teachers on research-based instructional strategies.
- Be knowledgeable about local, state, and federal rules, regulations, and policies.
- Campus Testing Coordinator duties.
- AVID Coordinator duties.
The primary role for an Academic Coach is to provide differentiated, sustained, job-embedded coaching and mentoring support for teachers through the professional learning communities and classroom modeling.
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesSupervises staff in those areas deemed appropriate by the principal.
Working ConditionsMental Demands: Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and written), instruct and model desirable skills and attitudes, remain productive and maintain control under stress, supervise others in a non-coercive manner, maintain a clear focus on customer service.
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand and move throughout the room and/or facility. Duties also include moderate standing, stooping, bending, lifting/transport of up to 50 lbs and the ability to work with frequent interruptions. Frequent district wide and statewide travel; occasional prolonged and irregular hours.

Salary: $289.48 Per Day
Job Requirements- At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred.
