OverviewThe Coordinator, Honors and Undergraduate Research is responsible for supporting Honors student engagement and the undergraduate research initiative. Reporting to the Assistant Dean of Honors Student Programs and Undergraduate Research, the coordinator serves as the front line of communication and support for both prospective and current students seeking to become involved with the Honors College or undergraduate research opportunities.
Duties & Responsibilities- Serve as the main point of contact for prospective, incoming, and current Honors College and undergraduate research inquiries. Manage the Honors College and Undergraduate Research email inboxes responding to inquiry emails and phone calls. Maintain regular walk‑in hours for drop‑in meetings with current and prospective students. Process incoming student applications.
- Provide advising and guidance for students engaged in Honors and/or undergraduate research. Collaborate with academic advisors to ensure completion of curricular requirements toward a certificate or distinction in undergraduate research.
- Manage the university’s platform for tracking student inquiries and completion of curricular and co‑curricular Honors and research badging opportunities, such as Suitable.
- Track completion of Honors by Contract courses to coordinate Honors course designation with Registrar’s Office.
- Assist in planning educational and social engagement events for prospective and current students.
- Provide support for the undergraduate research initiative by assisting with event planning and execution such as Demo Days, symposia, writing workshops, informational sessions, faculty and student mixers, etc.
- Serve as the main point of contact and hiring liaison for the federal work study research assistantship program. Coordinate with Human Resources to create PINs, post positions, and delegate timesheets to campus partners.
- Develop and maintain the undergraduate research social media presence and create content in line with university brand guidelines. Regularly update departmental website and recruiting materials in collaboration with Marketing Communications.
- Provide mentorship and direction to the Student Honors Council.
- Maintain faculty research interest database to ensure accurate and up‑to‑date information.
- Teach Honors seminar courses as needed, up to two sections per semester.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Education:
Master’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Experience:
Two (2) years of related experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs. Proficient in written and oral communication. - Skills:
Multi‑task and work well as part of a team. Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Adapt quickly to changing priorities and deadlines. - Other Requirements:
May occasionally work evenings and/or weekends for special events such as Demo Days, symposia, workshops, etc.
- Education and experience above and beyond the minimum that would be ideal but is not required.
- Participation in an honors program or research at a community college, junior college, or university.
- Experience in event planning.
- Experience creating content using Canva or Adobe Creative Cloud.

A Presidential proclamation issued on September 19, 2025, imposes a $100,000 fee on new H‑1B petitions filed after September 21, 2025. Texas A&M University will not pay this fee.
