Job Goal:
To enable each child to pursue his education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of his/her regular teacher.

• Report to school office at the beginning of the school day to pick up required materials/schedule of classes and at the end of the school day to return materials.
• Instruct students and manage their behavior.
• Be a positive role model for students and support the mission of the school district.
• Present subject matter according to lesson plans and/or instructions left by the absent teacher.
• Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, parents, equipment, materials, and facilities.
• Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
• Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
• Maintain a neat and orderly classroom; straighten chairs, tables, etc.
• Takes attendance in accordance with school procedures.
• Ensure that students are never left unattended in the classroom.
• Know emergency evacuation routes for the classrooms assigned.
• Know school procedures and regulations.
• Leave detailed notes for the day's activities including classroom/individual behavioral incidents, progress in completing the lesson, and attendance notes for the absent teacher.
• Perform other related duties as directed by the principal.

Note: Complaints made by a school principal about a substitute teacher may result in the removal of the substitute from the Substitute List.

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Fingerprinting.
• Background check.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required.
