Location: Central

The Adjunct Professor, Health Information Technology is a part‑time, 4.5‑month faculty position responsible to the Department Chair, Health Information Technology/Health Administrative Services and Dean, School of Nursing & Health Sciences. Professors provide classroom instruction and college service.

Responsibilities
  • Provide instruction in classroom, laboratory, or clinical setting for Health Information Technology and other Department courses that the instructor is credentialed to teach.
  • Schedule, maintain, coordinate, and evaluate didactic and clinical education of health information technology and health administrative students.
  • Counsel and advise students regarding career goals, program requirements, and job placement.
  • Assist in the evaluation and revision of program policies, curriculum, and examinations.
  • Serve on College committees and comply with all college policies and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by dean, professional and technical programs, and department chair.
Required Education / Experience
  • Bachelor's of Science degree.
  • Must have AHIMA Credentials—RHIA or RHIT or CCS.
  • Knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding and reimbursement methodologies.
Preferred Education / Experience
  • Master's of Science degree.
  • Teaching experience.
  • Teaching experience in a CAHEA approval health information technology program.
Other Expectations
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Will have contact— in person, by email, or by phone— with staff, students, and the general public.
