Position: Academic PK-5 ELAR Coordinator
Location: CastrovilleMedina Valley ISD - Academic PK-5 ELAR Coordinator Major Duties and Responsibilities
Lead development and refinement of PK-12 curriculum documents aligned to the Texas Prekindergarten Guidelines, Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills, and College Board standards.Implement procedures to support and aid with facilitation of the district’s science program.Develop and conduct or arrange for staff development sessions, including sessions on delivery of instruction and enriched learning in classroom settings.Conduct a continuing evaluation of the science program and implement changes based on the findings.Mentor and provide ongoing support for instructional coaches and teachers.Observe teachers and provide feedback designed to improve instruction.Collaborate with administrators, instructional coaches, teachers, and other relevant individuals regarding science initiatives.Facilitate, write, edit and help produce District curriculum documents in the area of PK-12 science.Facilitate, write, edit, and help produce District assessments.Provide input and guidance on the purchasing of instructional materials and supplemental resources relevant to assigned content area.Demonstrate an interest in acquiring new skills and knowledge while staying current in research and evaluation.Maintain knowledge of the district’s curriculum and instructional programs, scope and sequence and campus improvement plan.Provide leadership, guidance, and support to ensure equitable access to and successful implementation of advanced academic opportunities, including Pre-AP, AP, and dual credit programs.Work collaboratively with teachers and campus leaders to strengthen instructional rigor, align curriculum, and build systems that prepare and support students for success in advanced coursework.Policies and Procedures

Mental and Physical Demands
Daily attendance and punctuality at campus/department are essential functions of the job. Standard office equipment including personal computer and peripherals. Prolonged sitting; occasional bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, and twisting. Repetitive hand motions, frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching. Occasional light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds). Frequent district wide travel; occasional statewide travel. Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
Qualifications
Qualifications/
Experience:
Master’s degree from accredited university with a focus in related field (preferred).Valid Texas teaching certificate with required endorsements for science.5 years teaching experience in a classroom setting (multi levels preferred).Special Knowledge/
Skills:
- Demonstrated competency in science Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills.
- Expertise in the design, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of curriculum.
- Understanding of current research and ability to model effective instructional strategies.
- Skilled in analyzing and interpreting data to inform instruction and intervention.
- Strong analytical, organizational, communication, interpersonal, and technology skills.
- Ability to organize and coordinate district-wide PK-12 science programming.
- Ability to evaluate instruction programs and teaching effectiveness.
- Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
