Student Involvement Specialists (SIS) are enthusiastic, approachable, and community‑minded student leaders who serve as ambassadors of campus involvement at East Texas A&M University. As a student leader, SIS promotes campus resources, guides peers to discover student organizations, and builds meaningful connections that foster belonging and growth. SIS members also manage the operations of the Student Involvement Center, ensuring the space is welcoming and responsive to student needs while supporting departmental initiatives and special projects.
Responsibilities- Promote campus resources actively to student organizations, highlighting funding opportunities, Mane Sync platform capabilities, marketing assistance, and training sessions.
- Organize and develop programming and events that contribute to student organization success throughout the semester, including Homecoming Spirit Week and Student Organization Week.
- Serve as a knowledgeable resource to support student organizations and individuals in navigating Mane Sync, aiding with registration, event creation, roster updates, and more.
- Assist in developing and facilitating workshops and training sessions ensuring engaging and successful outcomes.
- Create compelling marketing materials that showcase student organizations’ events, awards, and impactful contributions.
- Hold regular office hours at the Student Involvement Center to manage equipment, resources, and services.
- Serve on the Student Organization Allocation Committee to help distribute funds to student organization requests.
- Fulfill additional responsibilities as delegated by the Office of Student Engagement.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience with Canva or other related design platforms.
- Creativity and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
- Organizational and time‑management skills.
- Prior experience in a student organization or leadership role.
- Customer‑service mindset and problem‑solving ability.
- Communicate regularly and attend meetings with OSE staff.
- Be proactive, approachable, and student‑centered in all interactions.
- Uphold professional standards, ethics, and confidentiality.
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with students, staff, and campus partners.
- Take initiative and contribute innovative ideas to enhance student involvement.
- Demonstrate flexibility, open‑mindness, and a consistently positive attitude.
- Set and pursue personal and professional development goals with clear action steps.
- Only full‑time students at East Texas A&M University are eligible.
- Prior involvement in student organizations or leadership roles is required.
- GPA:
Minimum 2.0 semester and cumulative; good standing with the university. - All positions are security‑sensitive.
