We are seeking a dedicated and skilled professional to serve as a Teacher for the Visually Impaired at a school near Olmito, TX. This contract opportunity is ideal for someone passionate about fostering independence and academic growth for students with visual impairments.
Qualifications- Valid teaching certification with endorsement in Visual Impairments (TVI), or eligibility for state certification
- Previous experience working with students with visual impairments preferred
- Strong knowledge of Braille and assistive technologies
- Ability to collaborate with general and special education staff
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Comfortable adapting curriculum and materials to meet individual student needs
- Assess students needs and develop Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) tailored to their goals
- Deliver direct instruction to students with visual impairments, both individually and in classroom settings
- Adapt classroom materials and curriculum using Braille, large print, or technology-based resources
- Provide guidance and support to teachers and staff on appropriate accommodations and modifications
- Collaborate with families and related service providers to ensure student progress and success
- Participate in IEP meetings, evaluations, and ongoing professional development
