Purpose:

Under general supervision, promote attitudes of positive student expectations, responsibility and assist in the development of at-risk youth in an alternative academic setting.

Qualifications:

Education/Certification (preferred)

High School Diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

Ability to clearly and accurately record information

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Ability to communicate effectively (verbally)

Experience:

Certification and experienced preferred, but not required

Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Know and communicate the campus mission statement.
  • Strive to help the campus/district to achieve its annual goals.
  • Maintain Professionalism
    • Punctuality and attendance:
      Be on time, be present, be last to leave.
    • Maintain clear lines of communication and work to communicate appropriately to all individuals at the appropriate level.
    • Create clearly defined relationships with students, parents, staff, etc
  • Be visible, present, supportive and nurturing for all parties: students, parents, community members and staff.
  • Participate/lead on assigned and/or designated committees.
  • Assist with the development, monitoring and update Campus Improvement Plan specific to the discipline programs as needed.
  • Collaborate with Program Coordinator on scheduling needs, teacher concerns, program needs, etc
  • Seek professional growth through opportunities related to all facets of the role of the position.
    • Attend and participate in all campus and district level meetings as required
  • Discipline Alternative Education Placement Specific Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the Behavior Coach of the assigned DAEP/PRIDE program daily from 7:45am to 3:45pm.
  • Communicate the DAEP program effectiveness to the Program Coordinator
  • Collaborate with Program Coordinator regarding program concerns and possible adjustments needed for DAEP program implementation.
  • Provide constant positive support and feedback to students regarding progress
  • Maintain daily student attendance and point's spreadsheet.
  • Make guardian contact each day a student is absent.
  • Provide weekly feedback to home campus administration regarding student points and possible release dates
  • Make regularly scheduled campus site visits.
  • Provide documentation of regularly scheduled campus site visits to Program Coordinator and Campus Administration
  • Maintain accurate documentation concerning student behavior and violations of campus expectations
  • Maintain consistency in following through the assigned steps of the student Expectations Contract.
  • Serve as a liaison with state officers and probation officers with applicable students.
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining supplies and equipment for all discipline programs.
  • PRIDE Program Specific Responsibilities:
  • Serve as a Behavior Coach of the PRIDE program Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:45pm to 5:30pm. (days and hours may vary)
  • Attend each assigned session of PRIDE or make arrangements to have another Behavior Coach cover the duty
  • Check roll for daily attendance and communicate absences and tardiness to the Program Coordinator
  • Collaborate with Program Coordinator regarding PRIDE program concerns and possible adjustments needed for PRIDE program implementation.
  • Place PRIDE sign out upon arrival and place back in closet at the conclusion of the PRIDE session.
  • Communicate to parents possible concerns or praises at the conclusion of the daily PRIDE session.
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining supplies and equipment for all discipline programs.
  • Enrollment Responsibilities:
  • Network with assigned school principals regarding program guidelines, requirements, and student information
  • Maintain procedures for enrollment of newly placed students for enrollment into the DAEP program based on the established district and campus guidelines.
