Responsibilities- Interact with library patrons to assist them in selecting materials and meeting informational needs.
- Search online catalog, databases and print sources to answer complex patron inquiries.
- Direct assigned staff and oversee activities in a branch library or portion of the central library unit.
- Keep statistical records of unit activities and prepare appropriate reports.
- Provide guidance and support to staff in the use of bibliographic and computer-assisted services.
- Assemble and arrange displays and bibliographies of books and other library materials.
- Represent the library system at schools, community groups or professional associations.
- Plan and conduct tours and programs for adults or children.
- Instruct and train new employees.
- May plan and review work of other employees.
- Recommend materials for selection.
- Assist in collection development and maintenance.
- Participate in activities and duties related to emergency management during a local state of disaster as directed by appropriate County Managers.
- Master’s degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited school. Transcripts not required.
- No previous experience required.
- Knowledge of current library practices and technologies.
- Good computer and organizational skills; ability to complete assigned projects in a timely manner.
- Good verbal and written communication, interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with the public, other employees, and elected officials.
- Night and weekend work is required.
$25.71 - $32.14 hourly, based on qualifications.
