SUMMARY

Adjunct Faculty refers to an educator hired to teach on a course‑by‑course basis throughout an academic year.

ADJUNCT POSITIONS
  • Adjunct Instructor of Voice
  • Adjunct Instructor of String Methods
  • Adjunct Instructor of Trombone/Euphonium
  • Adjunct Instructor of Mariachi
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Teach up to seven semester credit hours (up to two courses) within the required discipline. Instruction may be delivered on‑campus, off‑campus, or online and may be during the day and/or evening as dictated by student demand and departmental needs.
  • Develop and manage the class syllabus and ensure that the syllabus meets department and college standards.
  • Plan and create lectures, in‑class discussions, and assignments.
  • Assess grades for students based on participation, performance in class, assignments, and examinations.
  • Assist/mentor students as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: Master’s degree in Music
  • Experience: 1 or more years of collegiate teaching experience.
  • Knowledge/

    Skills:

    Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to: Multi‑task and work cooperatively with others.
  • Licensing/Professional

PREFERRED EDUCATION / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE
  • Doctor of Musical Arts, PhD in Music Education or related degree/field.
  • Special consideration for candidates with a degree in trombone or euphonium performance, vocal performance, or music education with a foundation in string methods/pedagogy.
  • Special consideration for candidates with successful experience with mariachi ensembles.
  • College or university teaching experience.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence.
  • Prior relevant industry experience.
