JH Special Education Paraprofessional (Inclusion Support)

Qualifications:

Education/Certification:

High School Diploma or GED Associate's degree or completion of at least 48 college hours preferred

Experience working with children, particularly students with disabilities, preferred

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively with a team

Patience, flexibility, and a commitment to supporting diverse learners

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics

Ability to work well with children

Ability to communicate effectively

Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher.

Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing of classroom activities

Key Responsibilities:

Support students with disabilities in general education classrooms under the direction of a certified special education teacher

Implement Individualized Education Program (IEP) accommodations and modifications

Assist with instructional activities, including small group and one-on-one support

Provide behavioral support using positive behavior intervention strategies

Help students stay on task, organize materials, and complete assignments

Collect data on student performance and behavior as directed

Assist with classroom management and transitions throughout the school day

Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, and related service providers

Support student social interaction and inclusion with peers

Maintain confidentiality of student information in accordance with federal and state laws
