Position: District Instructional Coach, Secondary Math (2026-2027 School Year) (9909)
Location: Cedar Creek

Secondary Math Coach

The primary role of the Secondary Math Coach is to support the implementation of the District's Math Framework through the consistent and aligned use of the District's math curriculum. To achieve this purpose, the Secondary Math Coach will, in collaboration with Campus Leadership and Curriculum and Instruction (C&I) Directors and Specialists:

  • Co-facilitate collaborative planning, including unit and lesson internalization and microteaches with teacher teams,
  • Monitor the alignment of instruction and assessment to the written curriculum and student outcomes
  • Implement the district coaching cycle by observing classroom instruction, modeling lessons with teachers and students, and providing timely verbal and written feedback, and
  • Provide targeted professional development to teachers.

Entry qualifications include a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, valid Texas Teacher Certification, and three years of classroom teaching experience. Preferred qualifications include a Master's degree from an accredited college or university, ESL supplement or certification, and experience creating and presenting professional development at the district or campus level.

Knowledge, skills, and abilities include knowledge of math research-based instructional strategies, Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), English Language Proficiency Standards (ELPS), state assessments including STAAR and TELPAS, and College, Career, and Military Readiness (CCMR) Standards. Skills in using technology as a learning tool in all content areas, analyzing and reflecting on student data, and engaging others in collective inquiry and problem-solving are also required.

Characteristic duties and responsibilities include supporting classroom instruction and curriculum implementation through coaching cycles and feedback, facilitating collaborative planning with teacher teams, and professional learning. The Secondary Math Coach will also build and maintain relationships with adults, establish a regular meeting cycle with Campus Principal, and communicate effectively with campus and district leadership.
