Special Education Teacher

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher to join our team at Special Education(Life Skills/Behavior Room). The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment for students with diverse learning needs. This full-time position involves developing tailored educational plans, implementing effective teaching strategies, and collaborating with parents and other professionals to support student success.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students with special needs, ensuring that educational goals are met.
  • Create and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student engagement and participation.
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to accommodate different learning styles and abilities.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, adjusting teaching methods and materials as needed to meet individual learning goals.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers, support staff, and parents to ensure a cohesive approach to student learning and development.
  • Provide support and guidance to students in social and emotional development, fostering a positive self-image and resilience.
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and behavior, and communicate regularly with parents regarding progress and challenges.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in special education.
  • Advocate for the needs of students with disabilities, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and educational standards.
  • Engage in team meetings and contribute to the development of school-wide initiatives that promote inclusivity and support for all students.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field;
      Master's degree preferred.
    • Valid state teaching certification in Special Education.
    • Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
    • Strong understanding of special education laws, regulations, and best practices.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
    • Ability to develop and implement effective instructional strategies tailored to individual student needs.
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
    • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for helping students with special needs succeed.
    • Proficiency in using technology and educational software to enhance learning experiences.
