Instructional Assistant

Primary

Purpose:

Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities. Assist the teachers in the preparation, management and delivery of classroom activities and administrative requirements

Qualifications:

• Education/Certification:
  
  High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
• Have met formal academic assessment, associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning
• Valid Texas educational aide certificate

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to read, write, and communicate clearly, concisely and effectively both orally and in writing in English and Spanish
• Ability to work with EB students well
• Ability to follow directions and carry out assigned tasks, independently and in an organized manner
• Basic computer skills such as keyboard/word processing, preferred
• Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics

Experience:

• One year of experience in a school setting, preferred
• Experience working with EL students, preferred
