Principal – Early Childhood (ECC) – Floresville ISD

Position: Principal (Early Childhood) – Early Childhood Campus (PreK / Head Start)

Salary: $64,385 to $92,651 Per Year

Primary

Purpose:

Direct and manage overall campus operations, providing leadership of the campus instructional program to ensure high standards of instruction and student achievement, compliance with district policies, and effective operation of all campus activities.

Qualifications:

  • Education/Certification: Master’s degree required;
    Texas Principal or appropriate Texas certificate required;
    Certified Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T‑TESS) appraiser.
  • Special Knowledge/

    Skills:

    Working knowledge of curriculum and instruction; evaluative ability of instructional programs and teaching effectiveness; budget and personnel management; implementation of policy and procedures; data interpretation; excellent organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience: Three years’ experience as a classroom teacher required;
    Minimum of three years’ experience as an Instructional Leader preferred;
    Campus Principal experience preferred.

Major

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Instructional Management
    • Monitor instructional processes for alignment with outcomes and correct deviations.
    • Provide instructional resources and materials to meet goals.
    • Set clear expectations for staff performance regarding instructional strategies, classroom management, and communication.
    • Foster collegiality and team building; encourage staff involvement in decisions.
    • Solicit input from campus committees; involve students and community representatives as appropriate.
    • Coordinate with Head Start on required policies and procedures.
  • School Improvement
    • Develop a shared vision for improvement with staff and lead planning activities.
    • Set performance objectives using the campus planning process and committees.
    • Communicate progress to superintendent, staff, students, parents, and community.
  • Student Management
    • Develop a discipline system that promotes positive behavior and a healthy climate.
    • Apply rules and discipline equitably per Student Code of Conduct and handbook.
    • Hold conferences on student and school issues with parents, students, and teachers.
  • Fiscal, Administrative, and Facilities Management
    • Comply with district, state, and federal policies.
    • Create and manage budgets based on documented needs and enrollment.
    • Maintain records and reports, including attendance for textbook requisition.
    • Manage facilities use and oversee maintenance for safety and cleanliness.
    • Personnel Management
      • Recruit, train, supervise, evaluate, and recommend staff; approve all personnel.
      • Observe performance, note observations, and conduct evaluation conferences.
      • Coach staff and support professional growth and improvement goals.
      • Plan professional development with committees.
    • Community Relations
      • Articulate school mission to the community; secure support.
      • Identify community needs and design activities to meet them; encourage involvement.
    • Supervisory Responsibilities Supervise, evaluate, and recommend hiring/firing of staff including assistants, teachers, counselors, librarians, aides, clerical staff, and custodians.

    Physical & Mental Demands: Standard office equipment, frequent sitting and standing, occasional bending and lifting (up to 15 pounds), handling student restraints, irregular hours, indoor/outdoor exposure, noise, travel, emotional control under stress.
