Primary Purpose

Ensure safety on the school campus.

Qualifications Education/Certification

High school diploma or GED

Special Knowledge/Skills

Ability to work with students and teachers effectively

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Ability to use interpersonal skills with tact, patience, and courtesy

Basic interests, attitudes and emotional development of students

Ability to use personal computer

Experience

Previous security experience preferred.

Major Responsibilities and Duties
  • Work with administrators to maintain an orderly and safe school environment.
  • Continuously monitor the internal and external parameters of the school campus.
  • Meet buses in the morning to ensure student safety.
  • Assist in conducting metal detector checks.
  • Identify and greet visitors on the school campus to ensure they signed‑in properly.
  • Monitor for intruders that would threaten the safety of the school campus.
  • Monitor and if necessary intervene to ensure appropriate student behavior with school rules.
  • Monitor and report school graffiti, report maintenance and safety hazard; photograph graffiti and vandalism as required.
  • Observe students during passing periods between classes.
  • Assure student compliance with school and district rules and policies.
  • Learn, interpret, apply and explain rules, policies and procedures.
  • Understand and follow oral and written directives.
  • Observe situations and accurately determine an effective course of action.
  • Operate walkie‑talkie as required.
  • Other Duties
    • Maintain confidentiality.
    • Participate in staff development, faculty meetings, and special events as needed.
    • Punctuality in all areas.
    • Maintain a positive attitude.
    • Positive role model for students.
    • All other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
