Hill Country Elementary School is seeking an energetic and skilled Paraprofessional Aide to join their Alternative Learning Environment (ALE) team for the school year.
Bandera ISD is a 4-Day Instructional Week District (Mon - Thurs, with designated Fridays for staff Development & Training).

- The instructional aide will work directly with students in the classrooms in grades Kindergarten through 5th grade.
- The instructional aide will work closely with ALE classroom teachers to assist in the instruction of engaging lessons.
- The instructional assistant will assist in the management of student behaviors by enforcing designated ALE classroom rules and procedures.
- Assist in the preparation of ALE teacher-designed lessons.
- Implement supports directed by the ALE teacher.
- Work with small groups for reteaching as directed by the ALE teacher.
- Assist students with physical disabilities, including transferring to and from wheelchairs, lifting, and positioning.
- Assist students with physical needs and personal care, including feeding, bathroom needs, and personal hygiene.
- Help manage the behavior of students, including intervening in crisis situations and restraining disruptive or dangerous behavior as needed at the direction of the teacher.
- Work with individual students or small groups to develop motor skills and conduct instructional exercises assigned by the teacher.
- Help supervise students throughout the school day, inside and outside the classroom (including before and after school duty when applicable).
- Keep ALE teachers and campus administration informed of special needs or problems of individual students.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Possess 48 hours of college credit from an accredited university/college OR Pass the NCLB Paraprofessional Assessment (Reading/ELAR, Math, and Written Essay).
- Pass Texas Criminal Background Check & Fingerprinting.
- The instructional aide will maintain confidentiality at all times as required by FERPA and HIPAA.
- Must be able to walk, run, and lift (up to 40 lbs.).
- Positive, can-do attitude.
- Willingness to be a dependable and functional member of the Hill Country Elementary School Family.
- Patience and strong ability to support ALE teachers in the management of stressful situations.
- Flexibility and strong multitasking skills.
- Willingness to take direction.
- Punctuality. (ALE is designed to work on a specified schedule, and punctuality and dependability are key).
- Willingness to take responsibility.
- Will ask questions and seek guidance if uncertain.
- Perform tasks necessary to support ALE teachers in teaching students self-care skills (tooth brushing, toileting, diapering).
- Ability to work cohesively with others in a fast paced, self-contained atmosphere.
- Participate in staff development activities and improve job-related skills.
