Special Education Aide
Abernathy High School is seeking a caring, dependable, and student-centered Special Education Aide to support students with disabilities in both general education and specialized instructional settings. The successful candidate will work closely with special education teachers, administrators, and campus staff to help students reach their academic, behavioral, social, and functional goals while fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide instructional support to students individually and in small groups under the direction of the special education teacher.
- Assist students with classroom assignments, accommodations, and modifications.
- Support the implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
- Help maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment.
- Assist with behavior intervention strategies and positive behavior supports.
- Monitor student progress and communicate observations to the supervising teacher.
- Supervise students during transitions, lunch, and other assigned activities as needed.
- Assist with clerical duties including copying, organizing instructional materials, and maintaining student records.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding student information.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the principal or supervising teacher.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Ability to work effectively with students with diverse learning needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Experience working with children or students with disabilities is preferred but not required.
- Must meet all state and district requirements for employment.

- Flexible and willing to assist where needed.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Passion for helping students succeed academically and personally.
