Job Description Primary Purpose

Provide supervision, guidance, and behavioral support for students assigned to the District Alternative Education Program (DAEP) and In-School Suspension (ISS). Build positive relationships that promote student success, enforce academic and behavioral expectations, support campus safety and security protocols, and assist in maintaining a structured learning environment that fosters student growth and accountability.

Responsible for the overall management, strategic planning, development, evaluation, and implementation of the district’s safety and security program. Oversee mitigation, prevention, preparedness, response, and recovery phases of emergency management.

Qualifications Education/Certification
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Associate's degree or higher preferred
  • CPI, TCI, or other approved behavior intervention training preferred
  • Experience in criminal justice or emergency management preferred
  • Valid Texas driver's license
Special Knowledge/Skills
  • Knowledge of student behavior management strategies
  • Knowledge of district student code of conduct and campus procedures
  • Ability to establish positive relationships with students in alternative educational settings
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism
  • Ability to monitor students and maintain a safe, orderly environment
  • Ability to work effectively with administrators, teachers, counselors, and families
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Knowledge of emergency operations planning
  • Knowledge of National Incident Management System (NIMS), Incident Command System (ICS), and Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) procedures
  • Knowledge of health and school safety programs and applicable laws
  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal response procedures
  • Ability to work within the county emergency operations center as applicable
Experience
  • Experience working with at-risk youth, behavior intervention programs, alternative education settings, or school-age students preferred
  • Experience in emergency management, risk management, or safety and security is preferred
Job Requirements
  • High School/Trade School degree preferred.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
