Job Description
White Deer ISD is hiring an Assistant Girls Coach/Teacher to assist with Volleyball, Basketball, Track, and tennis. The position pays $6,000 above state base plus individual stipends per coaching assignment. The district provides $300 per month toward applicant health insurance.
Primary PurposeProvide students with appropriate learning activities and experiences in core subjects to help them fulfill their intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth, while also coaching them to excel in assigned sports and contributing to the overall educational program.
Responsibilities & Duties- Develop and implement lesson plans that fulfill district curriculum requirements.
- Plan and use appropriate instructional strategies, materials, equipment, and technology to meet learning styles and needs.
- Work cooperatively with special education teachers to modify curricula for students with Individualized Education Plans.
- Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
- Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate for students' development.
- Manage student behavior in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships and open communication with parents, students, colleagues, and community members.
- Comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies for classroom teachers.
- Use instructional techniques to improve the abilities of student athletes in the assigned sport.
- Manage and supervise athletic activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth and teamwork.
- Take necessary precautions to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.
- Work with the athletic director to schedule competitions and plan season activities, including practices, special events, and tournaments.
- Ensure compliance with all UIL rules.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university (preferred).
- Valid Texas Teacher Certification.
- Texas CDL required.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Ability to instruct students and manage student behavior.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Knowledge of coaching techniques and procedures.
- Knowledge of UIL rules.
- Secondary teaching experience preferred; or one year of student teaching acceptable.
- 1–2 years of experience as a coach or participant in the assigned sport preferred.
- Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
- Salary: $6,000 above state base plus assignment stipends.
- Health insurance: $300 per month paid by district.
