Harmony ISD is seeking an enthusiastic and creative Part-Time High School Theatre Teacher to develop students' appreciation for the performing arts while building their confidence, communication skills, and creativity. The successful candidate will teach theatre courses, direct student performances, and foster a positive, engaging learning environment that encourages student participation and artistic growth.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Plan and deliver engaging theatre instruction aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).
- Teach foundational and advanced theatre concepts, including acting, stage movement, improvisation, technical theatre, and production.
- Direct and coordinate school theatre productions, performances, and showcases as assigned.
- Encourage student participation in UIL One-Act Play and other extracurricular theatre opportunities, if applicable.
- Create a classroom environment that promotes creativity, collaboration, and respect.
- Assess student progress and maintain accurate records of grades and attendance.
- Communicate effectively with students, parents, and school staff.
- Collaborate with other faculty members to support campus programs and activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the campus principal.
- Valid Texas teaching certificate with appropriate certification for Theatre (or ability to obtain appropriate certification).
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
- Strong classroom management and communication skills.
- Experience directing theatrical productions is preferred.
- Knowledge of UIL Theatre and One-Act Play rules is preferred.
- Previous high school theatre teaching experience.
- Experience with stage lighting, sound, set design, or costume production.
- Ability to inspire and motivate students with varying levels of experience.
- Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the classroom and performance spaces.
- Ability to lift and move theatre equipment and materials as needed.
- Ability to supervise students during rehearsals and performances, including occasional evening events.
