Job Description of Pastor of Students & Young Adults

Reports to: The Discipleship Pastor

Principal Function: The Pastor of Students & Young Adults provides vision, leadership, and oversight for ministries that help students and young adults grow in their relationship with Christ, connect with the church, and become committed disciples. The primary emphasis will be on leading and developing the student ministry, with Young Adult Ministry functioning as an important secondary area of leadership and discipleship.

Students
  • Lead, plan, promote, and evaluate all aspects of the church’s student ministry.
  • Develop and implement discipleship strategies that help students understand the Gospel, grow in their faith, and live as followers of Christ.
  • Recruit, train, and spiritually lead student ministry leaders to achieve the goal of student discipleship.
  • Work with the Youth Council to plan and lead student programs and activities, including Sunday School, Wednesday gatherings, retreats, camps, fellowship events, missions, and evangelism opportunities.
  • Prepare and oversee the annual student ministry budget for approval by the church.
  • Stay informed on current student ministry trends, methods, and resources to strengthen the ministry.
  • Build relationships with students and their families both inside and outside church activities, including school and community events.
  • Provide spiritual counseling with students and families as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Pastor.
  • Young Adults
  • Develop and lead a young adult ministry that helps graduating seniors and young adults transition into active, engaged church members.
  • Work with discipleship pastor to coordinate young adult small groups.
  • Plan and coordinate events that encourage spiritual growth, meaningful discipleship relationships, and engagement in the life of the church.
  • Provide pastoral care and spiritual counseling for young adults.
  • Identify, recruit, and equip volunteer leaders.
