Position Overview

First Baptist Church–Everman is seeking a male seminary or Bible college student to help strengthen men’s discipleship through a self-replicating “disciples making disciples” model and to gain supervised experience preaching expository Sunday evening sermons. This role is designed for a humble, teachable ministry student who wants to handle Scripture faithfully, develop men as disciple-makers, and grow through pastoral coaching in the life of a local church.

Ministry

Purpose

Help develop a sustainable pathway in which men grow as disciples of Jesus, learn to disciple other men, serve the church, and lead faithfully—while developing competence in expository sermon preparation and delivery under pastoral oversight.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Attend and assist with Saturday Men’s Discipleship.
  • Help design and implement a reproducible men’s discipleship pathway centered on Scripture, prayer, accountability, service, evangelism, and leadership development.
  • Identify and encourage spiritually mature men who may be equipped to disciple others.
  • Organize reproducible one-to-one or small-group discipleship relationships and prepare supporting Bible-study, reading, prayer, and accountability resources.
  • Encourage men toward faithful worship, personal holiness, family responsibility, church service, and gospel witness.
  • Prepare and preach assigned Sunday evening sermons in an expository style under pastoral supervision.
  • Submit sermon texts, outlines, and major interpretive direction for review before preaching.
  • Receive and apply feedback concerning interpretation, structure, theological clarity, application, delivery, and pastoral tone.
  • Coordinate with the Pastor and other ministry leaders so discipleship and preaching support the church’s overall mission.
Program-Wide Responsibilities
  • Participate faithfully in the full internship program and serve under the authority of First Baptist Church–Everman leadership.
  • Attend all required Sunday services and weekly ministry gatherings, including internship discipleship, Bible Study, morning and evening worship, Wednesday prayer meeting, Thursday A/V walkthrough, and role-specific meetings or activities.
  • Commit a minimum of 10 hours per week; preparation, projects, special events, and ministry needs may require additional time in some weeks.
  • Participate in the internship discipleship curriculum guided by Kingdom:
Explorations of the Sermon on the Mount.
  • Collaborate on the “A New Creation” new-believer curriculum using the designated guide, Scripture, and the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
  • Submit a written individual project proposal within the first month and complete the approved project before the internship concludes.
  • Participate in orientation, regular supervision, coaching, and formal evaluations.
  • Maintain dependable communication, appropriate conduct and ministry boundaries, confidentiality, and a servant-hearted posture.
Required Qualifications
  • Male student at Texas Baptist College, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, or another approved seminary or Bible college.
  • Has completed or is currently taking a basic college- or seminary-level Hermeneutics course.
  • Demonstrated call or serious interest in pastoral ministry, preaching, men’s discipleship, or local-church leadership.
  • Demonstrated spiritual maturity, humility, teachability, and willingness to serve under pastoral authority.
  • Ability to communicate biblical truth clearly and receive correction without defensiveness.
  • Intends to pursue vocational ministry, particularly in or related to the internship’s area of focus.
  • Affirms and will uphold the doctrinal commitments of First Baptist Church–Everman.
  • Provides at least two recommendations: one pastoral recommendation from the applicant’s member church and one educational, ministry, or professional reference.
  • Demonstrates a growing relationship with Christ,…
