Qualifications:

• Certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
• Bachelors or Masters degree in Special Education or a related field
• Experience working with students who have visual impairments
• Proficiency in adapting curriculum and utilizing assistive technology
• Strong communication and teamwork skills to coordinate with teachers, families, and support staff

Responsibilities Include:

• Developing and implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) specific to each students needs
• Adapting classroom materials and curriculum to accessible formats, including Braille and large print
• Providing direct instruction in areas such as Braille, orientation and mobility, and use of assistive devices
• Consulting with classroom teachers and staff to foster an inclusive learning environment
• Monitoring student progress and maintaining detailed records
• Communicating regularly with parents and guardians to share goals and progress
• Supporting transitions for visually impaired students from one academic level or setting to another
