Position Summary:

In consultation with other school personnel, the Special Education Teacher:

Provides educational services to students with disabilities

Is responsible for planning, developing, delivering, and evaluating appropriate individualized educational services, learning programs, and instruction in the inclusion, resource, LID, and other instructional settings.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Planning and providing specially designed instructions to students receiving special education and related services.

Collaborating with related service providers and general education staff in the implementation of accommodations and modifications

Ongoing communication and collaboration with parents, staff, and administrative staff regarding student planning and progress.

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

Knowledge of core academic subject assigned

Knowledge of curriculum and instruction

Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior

Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Knowledge of local, state, and federal regulations and policies affecting special education

Knowledge of current special education practices and methodologies

Knowledge of educational technology applications

Required/

Preferred Education:

Teachers:
Bachelor's degree required

Coordinators:
Bachelor's degree required;
Master's degree preferred

Required/

Preferred Experience:

Teachers: 1-2 years teaching experience preferred.

Required

Certifications:

Valid Texas Special Education Teaching Certification/Appropriate Board Licensure Valid Texas Generalist/Core content Teaching Certification with required endorsements or training for relevant subject and level.

Physical Functions:
Requires but is not limited to standing, sitting, repetitious hand and body movements, bending, squatting, and reaching. May be required to move or position equipment up to 15 pounds approximately.

US Work Authorization required
