Academic Specialist / Special Education Tutor – Part-Time 1099 Contractor
Emerging Adulthood Consulting LLC is seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate special education teacher, interventionist or academic specialist to provide individualized tutoring to neurodivergent students ages 11 and older.
This is a flexible, referral-based 1099 independent contractor opportunity. Sessions may be provided virtually or in clients’ homes throughout North DFW and Collin County.
RESPONSIBILITIES- Identify underlying academic skill gaps rather than only assisting with homework
- Provide individualized instruction in reading, writing, math and/or other core academic subjects
- Develop practical plans to help students strengthen missing foundational skills
- Adapt instruction for students with ADHD, autism, learning disabilities and other learning differences
- Document student needs, strategies and progress
- Communicate professionally with parents and caregivers
- Coordinate with EAC’s coaching team when appropriate
Candidates must meet at least one of the following:
- Hold a bachelor’s or graduate degree related to education or the subject being taught
- Hold a valid or retired teaching certification
- Have qualifying current or previous experience working for an accredited school or higher-education institution
The ideal candidate will also have:
- Special education, intervention or individualized-instruction experience
- The ability to independently assess academic needs and adapt instruction
- Strong communication, organization and documentation skills
- Reliable transportation for in-home sessions
- Availability during after-school, evening and/or weekend hours
- Willingness to complete required fingerprinting and background screening
Emerging Adulthood Consulting is an approved Texas Education Freedom Accounts vendor. Contractors who meet the applicable credentialing, fingerprinting and background-screening requirements may be considered for eligible TEFA‑funded tutoring referrals in addition to private-pay opportunities.
SCHEDULE AND SERVICE AREAContractors establish their availability and may accept referrals based on schedule, location, subject area and student fit. Opportunities are based on current family demand and are not guaranteed hours.
