Plumbing Instructor
Retirees of the Texas Teachers Retirement System (TRS) may apply. Consistent with district policy SD-7.17 “Employment of Retirees,” selected applicants are responsible for reimbursing the district, through payroll deduction, for the current rate of all TRS pension or TRS Care surcharges. As of September 1, 2025, the TRS pension surcharge rate is 16.5% and the TRS Care surcharge is $535/month.

Purpose:
Instruct adult incarcerated students in the technical and soft skills needed to gain entry-level employment. Direct instruction will includeplumbing safety, tolls of the plumbing trade, introduction to plumbing math, introduction to plumbing drawing, introduction to plumbing fixtures. Instruction to also include plastic pipe and fittings, copper tube and fitting, castiron and steel pipe and fittings, drain waste and water distribution.
- High School Diploma from an accredited high school, or hold GED equivalent.
- Five years full-time, wage-earning plumbing experience within the past ten years. Three of the five years must be at a Journey or Technician level.
- Thirty semester hours from an accredited college, university, or technical school may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis with a maximum substitution of four years.
- Windham School District must be able to issue a statement of qualification verifying work experience.
- This position requires personal technology that will enable the completion of job duties and responsibilities when working remotely.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to convey ideas and instructions clearly and concisely.
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Skill to interpret and apply rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Skill in organizing and maintaining accurate records.
