Ridebusesandhelpdriverensuresafeandorderlytransportationofstudentswithdisabilities.

• Assiststudentsonandoffthebusaccordingtotheirindividualneedsincludinglifting andcarryingstudentswithdisabilities.
• Supervisestudentsastheyboardandexitthebus.
• Escortstudentsintothebuildinganddelivertotheirassigneddestination. (thisisastudentbystudent needsoyouwouldonlyescortthosestudentsrequiringanescortallotherstudentsyouwouldjust watchastheywalkedintotheschoolbuilding)
• Instructstudentsonsafeentering,exiting,andridingrulesandregulations.

• Managestudentbehaviorandreportstudentdisciplineproblemsinatimelymannertoappropriateadministrator.
• Communicatewithteachersandparentsregardingstudentbehaviorwhileonbus.
• Assiststudentsonandoffthebusaccordingtotheirindividualneedsincludingliftingandcarryingstudentswithdisabilities.
• Escortstudentsintothebuildinganddelivertotheirassigneddestination. (thisisastudentbystudent needsoyouwouldonlyescortthosestudentsrequiringanescortallotherstudentsyouwouldjust watchastheywalkedintotheschoolbuilding)
• Managestudentbehaviorandreportstudentdisciplineproblemsinatimelymannertoappropriateadministrator.
• Completeandmaintainaccurate,updated,andtimelyrecords (includingbutnotlimitedtoMedicaid

Log andreportsincludingroutesheetanddailynonnotificationforms .

• Assistdriverkeepingbuscleanandperformanceofpreandposttripinspections.
• Operateequipmentaccordingtoestablishedsafetyprocedures.
  
  Makesurethatseatbelts,harnesses,orcarseatsareusedcorrectlyandhelpstudentsusesafetydeviseswhenneeded .In addition,makesurewheelchairsaresecureandfastenedcorrectly.
• Followemergencyproceduresincludingevacuationofstudentsasneededandassistdrivertoadministerfirstaid,if necessary.
  
  In addition,helpthedrivermaintainanuptodateemergencyfolderandfilloutthenecessarypaperworkshouldanaccidentoccur.
• Followestablishedproceduresandtechniquestoperformjobdutiesincludingliftingandassistingstudents.

• Becomefamiliarwithandfollowproceduresestablishedbytransportationandspecialeducationoffices .In addition,youarerequiredtofollowanyandalladditionalJCSSApolicies .
• Knowyourstudents’needsandactaccordinglytothose.(EXifastudenthasapeanutallergydonot bringpeanutsonthebus,ifastudentishearingimpairedbeverycarefultonotusegesturesthatmight beinsultingorscarytothestudents,ifastudenthasseizuresknowwheretheseizureactionplanisandhowtoimplementit.
