This is a part‑time/on‑call position. The Recurrent Training Instructor (RTI) is responsible for training Federal Flight Deck Officers in the use of weapons and self‑defense tactics to defend the cockpits of commercial aircraft.

RTIs must be current or former federal, state, or local law‑enforcement agents/officers. They must effectively communicate training concepts to a diverse audience, provide subject‑matter expertise, and instruct in accordance with basic adult education principles. RTIs must interpret, adhere to, and follow established program policies, SOPs, curriculum, and lesson plans. They must possess skill with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and wear a uniform as directed.

• Conduct training sessions and assist in evaluating the effectiveness of training activities.
• Coordinate logistics for instruction events, including scheduling classes, reserving classrooms, and preparing workstations.
• Maintain records of training activities, participant progress, and program effectiveness.
• Participate in development and establishment of course content and objectives.
• Update course documentation to ensure timeliness and relevance.
• Provide guidance and work leadership to less experienced instructors.
• Maintain current knowledge of relevant technologies as assigned.
• Participate in special projects as required.

RTIs must have successfully completed a recognized federal firearms instructor training program or equivalent, a recognized law‑enforcement instructor development course, and an instructor qualification program (IQP). Additional qualifications include:

• Minimum of 5 years formal experience as an instructor in firearms, defensive tactics/measures, and use of force.
• Excellent communication and adult‑education instructional skills.
• Ability to adhere to program policies and SOPs.
• Proficiency with automated systems (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

The work is performed in a multi‑use environment – classrooms, simulators, and firing ranges – requiring proper safety and security precautions. Employees handle ammunition, simunition, and other potentially dangerous items, wear hearing protection, and wash hands after handling ammunition. Physical effort in handling light materials, boxes, or equipment may be required.

The likely hourly rate is between $30.44 and $41.18, depending on experience and location.

Regular part‑time/on‑call position. 8 hours per week. Onsite in USA, TX Coppell. No travel required.
