Position: Building Service Worker Certificate – Instructor (On-Call)

Job Description

Coast Mountain College (CMTN), Terrace campus, invites applications for non‑regular Instructors to teach the Building Service Worker Certificate program on an on‑call basis as required (weekdays, evenings, and weekends). The on‑call period will commence July 6, 2026 and end August 31, 2027. Salary will be in accordance with the BCGEU Instructor Scale (range: $37.55 to $66.37 hourly).

Duties

The successful candidate(s) will develop and instruct courses based on a supplied overview of content for each level. This position is based out of Terrace; however, there may be instances where travel to other communities within the CMTN region is necessary. Please indicate which course(s) from the list below you are interested in teaching.

Courses
  • CEPSTR 702 Building Service Worker Level 1 (20 hours)
  • CEPSTR 703 Building Service Worker Level 2 (20 hours)
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a high school diploma and ideally post‑secondary training related to the field.
  • Preference for candidates currently working in all aspects of commercial cleaning (including floor cleaning and maintenance) in the Janitorial/Custodial field as an owner/operator.
  • Provincial Instructor's Diploma and/or Train the Trainer or ISS courses considered an asset.
  • Organizational and communication skills, and the ability to motivate and mentor adult learners.
  • Education, training, and mentoring experience valued; traditional teaching experience is not mandatory.
  • Understanding of Indigenous peoples’ culture and worldview, and the ability to address barriers Indigenous students face in accessing and succeeding in post‑secondary education.
  • Commitment to CMTN's vision, mission, values, and strategic direction.
