Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate educator to join our team as a Dyslexia/ELAR Teacher. This full-time position involves providing specialized instruction to students with dyslexia and supporting their literacy development in English Language Arts (ELAR). The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and inclusive classroom environment, implement evidence-based instructional strategies, and collaborate with parents and staff to ensure each student’s success.
Responsibilities- Develop and deliver individualized and small group instruction tailored to the needs of students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties.
- Utilize specialized teaching methodologies and interventions to support literacy development in reading, writing, and comprehension.
- Monitor and assess student progress through regular evaluations and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, and parents to create and implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and 504 plans.
- Provide professional development and support to other educators on best practices for teaching students with dyslexia.
- Including TELPAS Reading Intervention-assisting with 2nd grade as the take the TELPAS online.
- Create a positive and engaging classroom environment that fosters a love for reading and learning.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and behavior.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and school events.
- Stay informed about the latest research and developments in dyslexia education and literacy instruction.
- Reading Intervention groups- split with 1st and Kindergarten groups.
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or a related field;
Master’s degree preferred. - Valid teaching certification with ESL and specialization in dyslexia intervention or a related area.
- Experience working with students with dyslexia and/or other learning disabilities.
- Strong understanding of evidence-based instructional strategies for literacy development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Knowledge of current educational technology and tools to enhance instruction.
- 7:30 am morning duty
- Bus Duty until 4:00 pm
- Kindergarten Lunch Duty
- 1 Hour duty free conference
- 30 minutes duty free lunch
