Director of Preconstruction, Structural Steel

Salary: $120,000 - $130,000 per year.

We are a reputable structural steel fabricator and erector specializing in commercial and industrial projects. Our team is known for quality execution, strong internal collaboration, and long‑term client relationships. We value experienced leaders who bring both technical expertise and a hands‑on leadership style.

This is a senior leadership opportunity with a well‑established structural steel contractor. The role offers real influence over estimating strategy, project selection, and team development. You will lead the preconstruction function and play a key role in driving consistent, profitable growth.

• Lead and manage the estimating and preconstruction department
• Oversee all structural steel estimates from conceptual through final pricing
• Review drawings, specifications, and bid documents for scope and risk
• Develop accurate material, labor, and equipment takeoffs
  
  Establish estimating standards, workflows, and best practices
• Collaborate closely with project management, detailing, and operations teams
• Participate in bid strategy, project selection, and client negotiations
• Mentor and develop estimators to strengthen long‑term department performance

• Extensive experience in structural steel estimating
• Proven leadership experience managing estimating or preconstruction teams
• Strong understanding of fabrication, erection, and steel market pricing
• Ability to evaluate risk, value engineering options, and constructability
• Excellent communication and decision‑making skills
• Comfortable working full time in an office environment
