Overview

Solar Operations Technician – Millers Branch Solar Facility – Haskell, TX. The Millers Branch Solar Facility is under construction in 3 phases to be completed in 2025 and 2026, with a total capacity of 512 MW on approximately 4,700 acres. Equipment includes SMA 4200 UP-US inverters, Canadian Solar bi-facial modules, and Nextracker NX Horizon racking and trackers system.

Responsibilities
  • Operate and maintain utility-scale solar photovoltaic electrical systems.
  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Maintain plant maintenance records in Maximo® and participate in the plant system owner program.
  • Be willing to serve on Operations Review Board (ORB) action teams as required.
  • Work shifts, including nights.
Qualifications
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • 2-year college/technical degree or equivalent relevant work experience.
  • Electrical background is highly preferred.
  • Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude with demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and repair electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Solar utility-scale inverter maintenance experience preferred (e.g., Advanced Energy, TMEIC).
  • Strong technical background in electrical and electronic devices and equipment.
  • Instrumentation experience is a plus; PV and/or inverter experience is desirable.
  • Self-starter with ability to work with little direction and to follow directions when required.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to apply logical thinking to various situations; strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Must be able to learn to independently operate a solar plant and communicate effectively with plant stakeholders.
  • Physical ability to perform demanding activities (e.g., climbing stairs and ladders, lifting heavy equipment) while working safely in all weather.
  • Must be able to pass the EEI TECH test; transfer of scores from other utilities may be possible.
