Wind Farm Technician II
Full time, permanent – start as soon as possible.
Functional area: Operations & Maintenance
Remuneration: Non‑Exempt
Support the overall operations and maintenance of one or more wind farms and related facilities to assure safety and maximize availability in accordance with the Operations mission. This role is responsible for safe execution of scheduled maintenance, troubleshooting and repair activities, training, and safety exercises. It also maintains accountability and readiness of plant tools, equipment, and vehicles; provides technical guidance to the O&M team;
tracks and maintains records of service activities through a digital maintenance management system; and helps maintain the work ethic and culture of the plant O&M team.
- Assure that all operation and maintenance activities are performed in a safe manner consistent with policies and procedures established for the wind farm site.
- Assist in conducting acceptance and performance tests on systems and equipment following planned maintenance or outages.
- Perform safety and other wind farm related tasks when assigned and fill in as a backup to personnel at other RWE sites when necessary.
- Assist with turbine maintenance including services, major component work and replacement, and troubleshooting.
- Assist with Balance of Plant procedures as needed, including substation and collection system maintenance.

- High School Diploma or equivalent required;
Associate's Degree in Sciences or related field from an accredited school preferred. - Minimum 4 years of work experience in operations and/or maintenance in power generation, transmission and/or distribution.
- Alternatively 2 year or 4 year college degree from an accredited school (other than correspondence or online) in a technical science such as engineering, physics, or power.
- License or Certification experience substitutions include Current Journeyman, Current Master Electrician License, and Wind Tech Certificate.
- Unrestricted driver license in good standing.
- Wind turbine experience preferred (Vestas, GE, Acciona, Nordex).
- Military experience in a technical field (electrical, electronics or mechanical).
- Willing to relocate to within 1 hour drive of site.
- Knowledge of and experience with the use of hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of environmental and safety policies and procedures.
- Ability to work within tight deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability and willingness to travel to and from job sites as assigned.
- Proficient in creating, saving, manipulating text and formats in documents and spreadsheets in Microsoft Office Suite and utilizing Teams for meetings.
- Ability to prepare and present technical presentations with assistance.
- Ability to multi‑task while working independently and as part of a team.
- Motivated self‑starter, goal‑oriented, and strong problem‑solving abilities.
- Ability to independently perform troubleshooting and repairs of electromechanical systems.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic circuit drawings.
- Identify energy isolation points and implement LOTO for protection.
- Intermediate understanding of electromechanical relay, hydraulic accumulator, linear transducer, and electrical motor.
- Intermediate knowledge of power electronics, motor drives, AC/DC converters.
- Knowledge of computer network communication protocol and theory of operation is desired.
- Ability to fill out JHA/LOTO/Tailboard forms without assistance.
- Initiative – able to work with minimum supervision and make decisions for all issues related to the discipline(s) with limited and/or available information.
- Experience working on a wind farm site, including work in and around energized wind turbine generators and balance of plant equipment (substation, pad mount transformers, etc.).
- Ability to work in an office, warehouse, in turbines, and outdoors.
- Maintain a personal weight limitation of 270 lbs.
