Technician I Wind Turbine
This position is responsible for daily operations and maintenance of wind turbines. This will require an extensive amount of travel throughout the US. This person must have a "safety first" attitude with an understanding of doing the job right the first time.
Primary job responsibilities include promoting and complying with all company and safety policies and procedures, working in and around wind turbines, climbing multiple wind towers on a daily basis, professionally interacting with customers and coworkers on a daily basis, demonstrating safety as a top priority, installing, inspecting, maintaining, operating, and repairing wind turbines, diagnosing and fixing any problem that could cause the turbine to be shut down unexpectedly or fail to operate properly, climbing towers to inspect, troubleshoot, or repair turbine equipment, performing routine maintenance on wind turbines, testing electrical components and systems, as well as mechanical and hydraulic systems, troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical malfunctions, servicing underground transmission systems, wind field substations, or fiber optic sensing and control systems, replacing worn or malfunctioning components, and other duties as assigned.
Education and experience requirements include a high school diploma or equivalent, an active Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC) or the ability to obtain one, a technical 2 or 4-year degree or certificate in wind energy or related fields preferred, minimum one (1) years' experience working in and around wind turbine specifically for troubleshooting and preventative maintenance or a wind energy degree or certificate, experience using basic power and hydraulic tools, and a valid driver's license (CDL preferred).
Preferred skills/abilities include taking reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety, reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical procedures, effectively presenting information and responding to questions, basic understanding to carry out instructions, ability to use hydraulic tension and torque tooling, knowledge of entering and exiting the rotor, knowledge of using the internal chain hoist, strong attention to detail, basic computer operation skills, ability to read, interpret and understand basic drawings and schematics, ability to climb stairs and ladders up to 125 meters in height, ability to work in demanding physical and inclement weather conditions, ability to maintain certifications required to perform the work, ability to demonstrate basic industrial safety practices, and comfort working remotely in a turbine as part of a team with limited supervisory interaction.
