Position Specific Description
This is a permanent wind technician position located in Haskell, Texas. The role is a frontline position responsible for ensuring the safe and optimal performance of all wind farm operations. Key focus areas include the safe execution of field‑based equipment maintenance, troubleshooting, long‑term reliability, and profitability.
Additional Duties May Include- Executing Safety Management System procedures and instructions, and conducting field work in compliance with OSHA regulations.
- Working outdoors and at heights inside and outside of the elements.
- Troubleshooting and maintaining electrical components such as relays, breakers, contractors, and related hardware.
- Troubleshooting and maintaining mechanical components such as motors, gear drives, and other mechanical parts.
- Performing routine annual preventative maintenance on wind turbine components.
- Operating the tablet provided to each technician.
- Collaborating with internal Next Era users to develop and implement operation‑focused feedback and solutions for planned and unplanned maintenance, improvement projects, development, and financial performance.
- Recruiting and developing additional technicians for team development.
- Supporting the site manager with safety and environmental reporting, maintenance, financial reporting, and turbine availability.
- Presenting a positive professional representation of Next Era Energy in the community and with the customer.
- Participating in Business Lean Six Sigma processes and projects.
- Actively participating in the career development and Partners in Performance programs driving annual merit and incentive rewards.
Employees in this role perform maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs on wind turbines and associated equipment. The technician must understand mechanical and electrical components, hydraulics, and schematics, and use appropriate diagnostic tools. Responsibilities also include interpreting fault reports, maintaining power generation reports, service logs in the database, and monitoring turbine performance and SCADA systems.
Job Duties & Responsibilities- Perform regular preventive maintenance and repair on wind turbine power generation equipment under general supervision.
- Complete electrical, electronic, and mechanical troubleshooting.
- Maintain all company‑supplied equipment, facilities, and tooling.
- Apply a basic understanding of technical and process functions.
- Manage personal training schedules and meet all training requirements within designated time frames.
- Able to meet attendance requirements.
- Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.
- High School Graduate or GED.
- 1.5+ years of experience in a technical field or completion of a technical certificate/degree program.
- Valid driver’s license (non‑CDL).
- Ability to climb a wind turbine up to 300 feet.
- Post‑offer functional capacity evaluation.
- Associate’s degree.
