Solar Electrical Inspector (MV)

Leon County, TX (On-site) Job Type: Contract (approx. 6 months / 24 weeks) – Immediate start
Schedule:
40 hours/week Pay Rate: DOE + $140/day per diem (DOE)
The Solar Electrical Inspector (Medium Voltage) provides inspection, observation, documentation, and reporting services for solar project electrical construction activities, including underground MV collection systems, low-voltage installations, MV/HV interfaces, electrical equipment, testing, and energization support. This is an inspection-only role and does not include contractor direction, switching authority, energization authority, or contractor safety management.
Key ResponsibilitiesReview and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, studies, energization plans, LOTO procedures, testing requirements, and quality requirements.
Inspect electrical installations for apparent general conformance with design documents, including: low-voltage and medium-voltage cables, terminations and splices, equipment and materials, substation foundations and related installations.
Observe LOTO and energization planning activities; report apparent procedural concerns to the Owner (no switching/energization control).
Inspect delivered equipment/materials; document damage, non-conformities, missing items, or discrepancies.
Observe EPC contractor electrical testing; document whether required testing parameters appear to have been followed.
Complete MV completion walkdowns and generate punch lists/open-item logs.
Review EPC QC documentation and test reports; report incomplete records or discrepancies.
Monitor progress and communicate potential delays or schedule risks to the Owner.
QualificationsElectrical Engineering degree OR electrical certification/diploma with relevant experience. 5+ years solar electrical construction and/or inspection experience (MV preferred). Strong working knowledge of underground MV cable, terminations, splicing, substations and transmission interfaces, testing, energization, commissioning support. High-voltage certification preferred. OSHA 30 required. Valid driver's license.
