About the Opportunity

The Turbine Operator Trainee supports the safe and efficient operation of our electrical turbines while training under the guidance of experienced operators. In this role, you will learn to monitor turbine performance, assist with maintenance procedures, and develop the skills needed to maximize turbine efficiency and reliability. This position may require travel to customer locations as part of on-the-job training to ensure successful operation of the equipment.

Essential Functions

  • Assist in operating electrical turbines under supervision, learning to keep them running within specified parameters.
  • Learn to monitor turbine performance through control systems, gauges, and other instrumentation.
  • Support routine inspections of electrical and mechanical components, learning to detect signs of wear, damage, or malfunction.
  • Help identify issues or irregularities in turbine operation and report them to senior operators.
  • Assist with scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on turbines, including electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Shadow and support troubleshooting and repair of faults and malfunctions, learning to use diagnostic tools and follow safety protocols.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, standards, and protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Participate in safety procedures and emergency response drills.
  • Maintain accurate records of training progress, turbine performance, and maintenance activities under supervisor review.
  • Assist in preparing reports for management on operational issues and observations.
  • Support the team's response to emergency situations, including turbine shutdowns, system failures, or safety incidents, as directed by senior staff.
  • Assist with emergency repairs under supervision to help restore turbine functionality.
  • Help ensure tools and equipment used for turbine operation and maintenance are well-maintained and in good working condition.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions or needs for replacement to management or supervising operator.
Qualifications

Experience/Education

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1+ year of gas turbine controls/instrumentation/electrical experience preferred
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship for employment visa status
