Responsibilities
- Conduct hazard analyses using methodologies such as FMEA, HAZOP, and What-If Analysis.
- Develop and implement controls for identified hazards.
- Provide technical expertise on hazardous materials and processes.
- Perform complex hazard analysis assignments in support of development, testing, and manufacturing of hazardous materials.
- Apply physics-based approach to risk identification and mitigation.
- Support concept, design, and process hazard analysis in response to contract requirements and regulatory needs.
- Provide basis for safety waivers, regulatory interpretation, and deviation.
- Often function in a consulting and SME role regarding risks associated with design and development of products and processes using highly hazardous materials.
- Work across multiple organizations to establish policies and procedures focused on risk reduction and hazard control.
- BS in Engineering or Physics (minimum).
- 8+ years experience with energetic materials (minimum).
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communicator and team leader.
- Strong working knowledge of MIL-STD-882, DoD
4145, OSHA, and NFPA regulation.
