, but a meaningful portion of orders require customer-specific customization
. The mandate is to:
- Scale the modular platform and reduce avoidable “one-off” engineering
- Make customization faster, cleaner, and more profitable when it’s truly required
- Tighten engineering discipline so the factory builds from accurate drawings, BOMs, routings, and labor standards
- Strengthen the interface between Engineering and Operations to improve SQCD (Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost) + margin
- Lead Engineering + Maintenance with a practical, floor-present leadership style

What You Will Own in this Key Leadership Role (end-to-end):
Product Engineering Leadership (Design-to-Build Ownership)- Own end-to-end engineering output:
design/customization, drawing control, revision discipline, build package readiness - Establish clear release gates and accountability for approvals, revisions, and production-ready packages
- Drive modular design strategy to reduce engineering churn and improve manufacturability
- Tighten BOM accuracy
, routings, labor standards, and item master discipline in an ERP/MRP environment - Improve quote-to-build handoffs so engineering inputs support accurate costing, lead times, and execution
- Install disciplined change control to prevent engineering changes from creating shop-floor disruption
- Standardize engineering work output so Production sees fewer surprises and more repeatability
- Strengthen engineering’s role in quality outcomes: error-proofing, documentation discipline, and root-cause closure
- Operate effectively in a certification-driven environment where documentation, traceability, and process discipline matter
- Champion safety-by-design practices and practical compliance partnership across functions
- Oversee preventive maintenance, reliability, and facility uptime to protect throughput and delivery performance
- Improve equipment reliability and responsiveness through basic TPM principles and clear accountability
- Evaluate and implement upgrades/automation where ROI is clear, and execution is disciplined
- Partner with Sales on fast, accurate engineering inputs for estimating, costing, and pricing—especially for custom requests
- Improve repeatability and speed of quoting by standardizing options, modules, and assumptions
- Partner closely with Operations to improve flow, capacity planning inputs, and manufacturing execution
- Translate engineering decisions into measurable improvements in delivery, quality, throughput, and cost
- Build a practical management cadence with clear metrics, escalation paths, and accountability
- Lead a small, highly competent engineering group with high expectations: clarity, standards, coaching, and accountability
- Build scalable systems while still being willing to handle real work when needed
- Strengthen cross-functional collaboration with production, quality, supply chain, and maintenance
- Build ROI-based business cases for equipment/process investments tied to safety, quality, throughput, and margin
