Position Overview
The ICBM Targeting Support Specialist will support HQ Air Force Global Strike Command (AFGSC) in providing System Engineering Support (SES) services for ICBM and helicopter operations.
Essential Job Function- Develop AFGSC sortie requirements for OPLAN 801X and USSTRATCOM Operations Order (OPORD) Global Citadel (OGC) during periodic document updates using standard document update practices
- Provide expertise with establishing AFGSC policy for nuclear targeting operations supporting CJCS/USSTRATCOM requirements
- As necessary, advise AFGSC action officers on AFGSC policy regarding ICBM force status, configuration, and availability for USTRATCOM planners
- Coordinate and monitor development, acquisition, and implementation of ICBM operational hardware/software to assess impacts on crew member targeting procedures
- Perform ICBM capability analysis in support of ICBM sustainment, modernization, and upgrade decisions
- Propose AFGSC policies supporting ICBM combat crew targeting and related training/evaluation procedures
- Provide technical advice and analysis of ICBM Life Extension Programs (LEPs) and Long Range Planning (LRP)
- Conduct analysis of modernization impacts on ICBM force reliability
- Participate in planning ICBM force structure and maintenance activities required to ensure ICBM Hedge, New Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START), and Nuclear Posture Review (NPR) compliance
- Support AFGSC Hardness and Survivability program. Acquire data from a variety of sources, evaluate, analyze and advise responses to wide range of reliability and survivability issues
- Provide expertise in other war fighting issues or studies requiring mathematical or engineering support
- Provide technical review and on-site support for 20 AF document review/production and software testing, as required
- Provide briefings, papers, reports, memorandums and other documentation as required for the ICBM operations mission
- Provide other technical, administrative and programmatic support within the scope of the PWS as directed by applicable A3 Division Chief
- Must possess a Top Secret/SCI clearance
- Must have a bachelor’s degree
- Must have eligibility for Special Access Programs (SAP) and access to:
Critical Nuclear Weapons Design Information (CNWDI), Restricted Data (RD), Formerly Restricted Data (FRD) and Nuclear Command & Control - Extremely Sensitive Information (NC2-ESI) access
- At least 7 years’ headquarters (MAJCOM, NAF) staff experience
- At least 10 years’ ICBM Operations experience
- At least 5 years’ USSTRATCOM Plans experience
