Designer III

Overview

As a Designer III at Trane Technologies, you will be a key member of a high‑performing team of Product Development Engineers and Designers for Commercial Unitary Water Source Heat Pump (WSHP) Products. Your work will involve drafting and designing equipment and systems that meet customer requirements and managing the associated documentation.

• Collaborate with Engineering to create parts, assemblies, and layouts in Creo Parametric.
• Produce and develop designs and documentation using computer design and product life‑cycle management systems.
• Prepare supporting documentation across multiple systems and applications.
• Apply knowledge of change control, bill of materials, product definition & selection, machine design, castings, fabrication, sheet metal, GD&T, tolerance analysis, electrical, electronics, heat transfer, piping, and welding.
• Recommend solutions for potential design or product configuration problems.
• Translate verbal and written instructions into drawings of HVAC products.
• Create 2D and 3D engineering drawings and perform common computations.
• Generate assemblies and sheet metal parts using 3D CAD modeling software.
• Provide technical support to other departments regarding drawings or design data.
• Adhere to company safety and security policies and procedures.
• Manage project schedules and teams for assigned projects, directing tasks and ensuring completion.

• Associate’s Degree in Design or Engineering Technology (or related discipline) and at least 5 years of CAD design experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience with Solid Works, Creo Parametric, or other modern CAD software.
• Experience in project planning and scheduling.
• Knowledge of product definition, configuration, and bill of materials.

• Strong drafting and computer‑aided design skills, including 2D/3D modeling and drawing production.
• Understanding of product configuration and application.
• Proficiency in a computer‑aided graphics system.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.
• Ability to work independently and lead small teams.
• Knowledge of Trane HVAC products, refrigeration cycles, controls, or electrical devices is a plus.
