This role will report to the Sr Preconstruction Manager for projects related to GNB’s Mission Critical Manufacturing (MCM) division. The successful candidate must be able to work independently in fast paced, dynamic environments and be able to multi-task to closely track and manage activities for multiple high-revenue, mission critical projects simultaneously. This role requires the coordination and continued relationship development with GNB’s blue chip customer base, vendors, suppliers, GNB personnel, and GNB’s project execution teams to execute on the project deliveries.

This role will take on exciting projects with high organizational visibility that will have an impact on GNB’s Mission Critical Manufacturing business
Responsibilities and Duties- Act as the primary point of contact for the client, ensuring that the client expectations are managed proactively, diplomatically, and constructively and that clients are kept informed and aware of the project status frequently and throughout the project lifecycle
- Coordinate with in-house engineers and designers to ensure designs and drawings meet project requirements
- Work with the project team, support personnel, and vendors to ensure the successful completion of the project on time, at cost, scope, safety, and quality
- Develop detailed project schedules, using the critical path method, including design/detailing, procurement, fabrication, freight, and invoicing
- Project risk identification and analysis, as well as proactive pain point identification, that may impact project completion
- Directly monitor and manage the procurement process to ensure successful procurement and delivery to the budget, schedule, quality, and environmental requirements
- Ensure safety standards are maintained in all aspects of projects
- Five (5) or more years of proven project management experience with complex projects
- In depth understanding of the project life cycle, from sales and design to delivery and project close out
- Experience with procurement processes from supplier selection and vetting, to PO/subcontract negotiation, issuance, and acceptance
- Experience in the review, understanding, and concise explanation of architectural/structural drawings and technical specifications (e.g. CSI Divisions 5 and 13)
- Experience with steel fabrication and familiarity with AWS, AISC, and material specifications
- Ability to organize and maintain complex data, drawings, legal contracts, requests for information (RFIs) and answers, and miscellaneous information through a project’s lifecycle
- Experience with change order processes, particularly when such is needed and how to identify and negotiate such with customers
- Familiarity with value engineering (VE) and how to identify, and explain, opportunities for such
- Experience with the creation of schedules of values (SOV), percentage of completion (POC), and milestone based invoicing methods
- In depth experience with MS Project, Bluebeam, and Microsoft Office Suite is essential
- The ability to travel should the need arise both in Canada and the USA – up to 25%
- Experience with in a Design/Build or EPC environment, preferably with a steel fabricator
- Experience with 3D modeling or FEA design/engineering software like AutoCAD, Solid Works, or Revit
- Experience with Net Suite ERP system
- Experience in bottoms up estimating and quantity take off
This job primarily operates in a professional office environment with periodic travel in an industrial steel and fabric fabrication environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, precise measuring instruments, and other design and engineering related tools.
