Sustainable Infrastructure Management Internship

By 2039, our entire new vehicle fleet shall be carbon neutral across all value creation stages – from development to the extraction of raw materials and production. For the environmental impact of vehicles, in addition to the resource use in the vehicle, the resource consumption during manufacturing plays a decisive role. Reducing the ecological footprint of production processes is an integral part of the sustainable business strategy of the Mercedes-Benz Group.
In the area of 'Sustainable Infrastructure', the department 'Green Production & Resource Management', as a cross-site center of competence, focuses on climate protection and resource conservation in our production plants. The core tasks of the department include, among other things, ensuring a sustainable, cost-optimized energy procurement and energy self-generation, securing the achievement of our energy saving goals through optimization of energy efficiency, and the constant development of the energy management system, the further development of our disposal strategy, and the reduction of our water usage through the closure of water cycles.
For the Mercedes-Benz Group AG and Mercedes-Benz Operations, the team Energy Management Construction Sites manages the energy management system and the energy efficiency of the sites, the further development of the key performance indicators systems, and the monitoring of the goal achievement across all energy KPIs in the cross-site projects.
The internship in the area of 'Energy Management Construction Sites' at the Bremen site includes diverse tasks that offer a comprehensive insight into our sustainable production:
- Participation in the creation of documents for top management
- Implementation of the requirements for the energy management system and its further development
- Coordination and control of energy optimization activities
- Independently working out and coordinating (sub-) work packages and project topics for energy optimization
- Participation in the further development of our communication strategy in the energy area
- Assistance in the planning and implementation of training concepts and training sessions
- Assistance in the identification and optimization of large consumers and the economic assessment of energy efficiency measures using En Eff Co
- Development and creation of energy key figures for consumption analysis using En Eff Co
- Creation and further development of energy bills with external and internal customers using En Eff Co
- Assistance in official reports such as energy tax, electricity tax, NEV reports, and others
- Cross-site work in the team across 4 construction sites in Europe
The activity can start flexibly in August/September 2026.
Qualifications:
- Study course in the field of energy management/energy economics, electrical engineering, business engineering, business information management or a comparable course
- Secure German and English language skills in speech and writing
- Secure handling of MS-Office
- Engagement and team capability
- Analytical thinking and strategic working method
- General energy economic understanding is an advantage
